Grading Policy

Grade criteria

The Physical Education semester grade has three components: Dress, Participation, and Performance Tests. The Physical Education semester grade is composed of each quarterly grade being weighted at 47.5% and a final exam weighted at 5%.

Dress: comprises 50% of the grade and includes on time, changing into an activity uniform and remaining active throughout the period. On the fourth occurrence the student risks failing the class, on the sixth, the student will mathematically fail.

Participation: is 20% of the grade in several point areas that includes workout, effort or sportsmanship as well as doing the actual physical workout itself. Students will complete a pre-determined amount of workouts for the quarter.

Performance Tests: constitutes 30% of the grade and could include such things as research, fitness test, or up to date information on class topics, as well as unit tests.

The units this year include Football, Soccer, Floor Hockey, Basketball, Softball and Volleyball and perhaps more.

Fitness Tests include the following tests: Bend and Reach, Sit-Ups, Push-Ups, Shuttle Run, Push Ups and 1600 meter Run. You must attempt these tests to receive baseline credit. Each test carries a pre-determined amount of points.

Extra Credit: is given from time to time for various assignments and will be used in different areas of the grade, including the category "Dress."
